MUSHROOM PICKER

Job No: MUS92
Location: Waterloo Corner

SA Mushrooms are growing our picking team. If you are keen to learn, are steady-handed with a delicate touch, and have your own transport then this could be the job for you!

We grow our mushrooms indoors in climate-controlled growing rooms, allowing us to pick mushrooms 365 days a year. This means our employees have secure and reliable work all year round as we don’t have picking ‘seasons’ like many other produce farms.

About your role

Pickers are an integral part of SA Mushrooms. If you join the team, your day-to-day role will include picking and packing mushrooms indoors in our modern climate-controlled facility. When you first start, you will receive 5 weeks of intensive training with our dedicated Mushroom Picking Trainers, giving you every opportunity to succeed in your role.

To be successful, you need to have at least intermediate English skills, be available to work during the day (hours between 7am-5pm) on a 7-day rotating roster and you must have your own reliable transport. All pickers are based at our farm in Waterloo Corner in the Northern suburbs of Adelaide.

Please note that applicants must currently live and have work rights in Australia without restrictions on work hours.

Employees of SA Mushrooms enjoy many benefits. If successful, you will:

  • Earn a competitive salary
  • Receive comprehensive and practical on-the-job training
  • Access complimentary on-site car parking
  • Work in state-of-the-art facilities
  • Only perform indoor picking – working at 18°C every day!
  • Belong to a multi-cultural workplace and friendly work environment
  • Be rewarded for hard work
  • Work for a company that is progressive and best in its class
  • Receive a free punnet of mushrooms each week
  • Work with great bosses!

Salary

Pickers are paid an hourly rate of $28.26 during their 5-week training.  After this pickers have a minimum wage guarantee of $28.26 per hour and are able to earn a piece rate of $30.74 or more, depending on output and productivity.

About SA Mushrooms

From small beginnings as a family-run farm, the business is today a primary supplier of mushrooms to major supermarkets, independent greengrocers and produce markets in South Australia, and nation wide.

Operating from a state of the art, climate-controlled facility on the fertile Adelaide Plains, our fully-integrated business now employs over 100 staff and each week produces 60 tonnes of fresh, healthy Swiss brown, white button and field mushrooms. In recognition of this work, SA Mushrooms was in 2013 awarded “Primary Producer of the Year” at the South Australian Food Industry Awards.

Placing a strong emphasis on the delicately hand-picked & packing process, SA Mushrooms are able to deliver our mushrooms only hours after being picked. As SA Mushrooms has grown in size, we have remained 100% family owned and have continued to hold ourselves to the same high standards and “paddock to plate” philosophy that have guided us to our success, delivering our high quality produce — and its significant health benefits — to more and more Australian families each year.
