SA Mushrooms are looking for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our Maintenance team. If you are super organised, have high attention to detail, and have your own transportation then this could be the job for you!

About the role

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will be responsible for ensuring that preventative maintenance, services, and repairs are performed on plant, equipment, and facilities. To be successful in this role, the applicant must have the relevant Australian recognised trade qualifications or previous experience in a variety of agricultural or construction fields, and have a current drivers’ licence. Forklift and HR licence would be looked upon favourably, but not essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Scheduled maintenance, complex diagnostics, troubleshooting, and high-level problem solving and reporting.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical equipment. Component change outs on a variety of agricultural plant or equipment – any break down experience highly regarded.
  • Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, checking fluid levels, rotating tyres, and greasing plant.
  • Test-drive vehicles to ensure that they run smoothly.
  • Prepare and update records of service work conducted and keep on top of scheduled maintenance activities.
  • Source quotes from external suppliers for parts.
  • Repair and maintain other plant and equipment as required.

Key Competencies

  • Practical experience in general trades or agricultural settings (essential).
  • Basic knowledge of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Familiarity with agricultural machinery and operations is an advantage.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
  • High level diagnostic and problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.

Successful candidates will possess the following

  • Relevant experience in agricultural work with a particular focus on servicing or maintaining brands like Christiaens, GTL, Traymaster, Thilot & Hoving Holland (Essential).
  • Good fault finding and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Highly organised, proactive, innovative, and methodical in approach.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work with limited supervision and within a team environment.
  • Demonstrated safety awareness at all times.

Remuneration

Range depending on qualifications and experience -  $73,200 - $75,000 annually. This role is fulltime, working 5 days a week and will be based at Lower Light and Waterloo Corner in South Australia. Some reasonable out of hours work may be required from time to time and is inclusive of your salary.
